  • Adding content: Embedding and linking

In this section we will learn hour to embed and link to web content in our TutnIQ course or tutorial.

  • Embedding web content

One of the most important TutnIQ features is the ability to embed content from other websites. For example, the following tweet:

  • TutnIQ supports embedding from a number of popular websites:

If your favorite site is not listed, ask us to look into adding support!

To embed content in the course builder:

    1. Click the "Add content" link.
    2. Select the "Embed web content" option from the drop-down menu.
    3. Provide the required information - only the URL of the content is compulsory.
    4. Optionally, provide a title and a description.
    5. The embedded content will appear at the end of the course and can be dragged and dropped into the correct position.

    Note:

    • Embed functionality is experimental and dependent on outside providers.
    • Please comply with the terms and conditions of the various embed provider sites!
    • Embedded content must also comply with TutnIQ terms and conditions, particularly our prohibited content policy.

Finding the URL to embed when using Google Docs

When using Google Docs it is sometimes difficult to find the URL to embed. The following steps should help:

    1. Open the content (doc, slide, sheet, etc)
    2. Click "file" in the Google Docs interface for the content.
    3. Click "Publish to the web".
    4. Click "Start publishing" (if the document is not yet published).
    5. Copy the "Document link" (in the "Get a link to the published document" section of the form)- this is what you will embed in TutnIQ.

Please note that support for Google Docs is highly experimental - if something looks broken please pop us a message and we will look into it!

    Link to web resource

A web resource is simply a link to a another website.

To add a link to a web resource in the course builder:

    1. Click the "Add content" link.
    2. Select the "Link to web resource" option from the drop-down menu.
    3. Provide the required information - only the resource URL of the content is compulsory.
    4. Optionally, provide a title and a note to the viewer.
    5. The link will appear at the end of the course and can be dragged and dropped into the correct position.
    6. Consecutively sequenced links will be automatically grouped together.

When someone views your course, and clicks on the link, they will be taken to an interstitial page where your notes will be visible. The user will also be advised that the link is on an external website and outside the control of TutnIQ. If you would like to avoid the interstitial, you can create links in a text block using Markdown.

The link will appear as follows:

  • Online resources:
